Date: January 30, 2015 - January 31, 2015
Event Description:
Come join us for the 11th Annual "Weekend with Charles" with our teacher and friend Charles Macinerney. Charles has a wonderful style of teaching that is fun and informative. His classes always bring a smile along with a moment
of "ah ha". He is the founder of the Yoga Teacher Training Program and the Texas Yoga Retreat.
Friday night's two hour meditation session will focus on Visualization for Health - Visualization is a powerful tool for healing. We will examine some of the recent science validating the transformative power of visualization and include exercises to help you improve relaxation, sleep, breathing, general health, targeted exercises that you can customize for any disease, and visualizations to support psychological and spiritual well being.
Saturday moring: Variations on a Twist from 9 AM to Noon
This workshop will explore some basic principles of twists, and then apply them to a large assortment of twisting poses, from the easy to the challenging. We will include work on reclining and seated twists, then move on to standing twists, and if there is time we will address partner twists. Time will be set aside at the beginning of the workshop for a warm up and at the end of the workshop for counter poses to help release the twists from muscle memory prior to shavasana.  All levels of experience are welcome, however, this class may not be suitable for those with serious injuries to the spine. If unsure, please ask your yoga teacher for advice prior to registering.
Saturday afternoon from 2 to 5 PM - Fascia: It's all Connected
Throughout our lifetime most of us begin to stiffen and to shrink with age. This does not have to happen. The health our our fascia will determine the state or our body as we age. Fascia requires movement, warmth, and adequate hydration to remain healthy. We are connected together because of a vast, spider web-like network of fascia, which travels through our entire body like a heavy sweater. Recognition of fascia's true significance and complexity is just spreading into the yoga community. This workshop will explore the latest scientific understanding of fascia, both anatomy and physiology, and how to make better use of this understanding in how we practice yoga.  Happy fascia is fluid. Come learn fromhow to make yours fluid.
Sunday afternoon from 1 to 4 PM:  Yoga and Writing
Hatha Yoga, Pranayama and Meditation are amazing tools for shifting consciousness. Learn how to combine yoga with creative writing to tap into deeper sources of inspiration. We begin with an Asana class to shut down internal dialogue and distance students from the momentum of their daily routines. Then we move into pranayama and meditation to still the mind and deepen our sense of self. Following a writing prompt, to set the mind in motion again, we write for 15-30 minutes and then form into small groups where anyone who wishes to read to the group will have an opportunity to do so. No previous experience with yoga, meditation or writing is required.
