Event Description:
Resource Fair featuring AACOG programs, include the Weatherization Assistance Program, the Alamo Area Agency on Aging, Alamo Regional Transit, Commute Solutions, Resource Recovery, and Call-a-Ride for Vets and Texas Serves. Applications for services can be filled out and submitted during the event, and staff will be on-hand to tell you about our programs and answer your questions. Featuring the following AACOG programs: Weatherization Assistance Program – Energy conservation measures to assist you in reducing energy consumption. Applications accepted at the event. Services for Veterans and their Families – TX Serves (Coordinating services, resources, and care for service members, veterans, and their family members), and Call-a-Ride for Veterans. Area Agency on Aging – One-stop resource for referrals, information, benefits counseling, local health and wellness classes, and Ombudsman services and volunteer opportunities. Referrals to care coordination services such as Personal Assistance, Income Support or Health Maintenance. Alamo Regional Transit – Providing public transportation within the rural AACOG region and into San Antonio. Free ride program available for qualifying veterans, spouses and dependents. Commute Solutions & Resource Recovery – Provides information on alternative transportation options, and saving the environment and your money through reduction, reuse, and recycling. Anyone requiring transportation to the event please call 1-866-889-7433. Fees range from $2.00-$12.00 each way. Rides must be scheduled by noon the day prior to the event. Transportation is available for anyone, all vehicles are ADA accessible. Participating Organizations: AAA-Texas, Alamo RC&D Area, Inc., Comfort Area Foundation, Comfort Golden Age Center, National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders, Rural Empowerment Advancement Program, San Antonio Food Bank, Texas Department of Insurance, Texas Health & Human Services, USDA, VFW Post 8569, and Workforce Solutions Alamo.
