Event Description:
Expanded need for blood donations
 
  • The South Texas area is experiencing a dramatic increase in the need for blood, and our local hospitals are feeling the impact.
  • You may have seen news reports about the spike in shootings and other violence – that has contributed to a shortage of both red cells and platelets.
  • A larger-than-usual number of transplant surgeries also has contributed to the shortfall.
  • Accident and gunshot victims, cancer patients, mothers of newborns, and transplant patients – all of them rely on our donors for the blood they need.
  • The need is especially critical for platelets and O+ donations.
STBTC supplies blood to hospitals across San Antonio, including the San Antonio Military Medical Center and 43 counties in South Texas.

7/9         Grace Lutheran Church of Bandera is sponsoring a blood drive at Boyles True Value Hardware 11am-4pm in the parking lot
7/9         HEB plus!, 420 West Bandera Rd, Boerne  11am-3pm in the parking lot
7/10       Notre Dame Catholic Church, 900 Water Street, Kerrville  8am-1pm in front of the Social Center
7/11       Kerrville State Hospital, 721 Thompson Drive, Kerrville  9am-4pm in the Administration Building
7/14       Brookdale Guadalupe River Plaza, 135 Plaza Drive, Kerrville   8:30am-11:30am  in the old theater parking lot
