Event Description:
San Antonio dining excursion will benefit Meals on Wheels, other Dietert nutrition programs.  One of San Antonio's top chefs and restaurateurs is lending his support to the Dietert Center's Nutrition Services program.  On May 12th, Hill Country diners will board a chartered bus at the Dietert Center and make their way to San Antonio for a Beach Party fundraiser, Chef Jason Dady style.  The evening will begin with a wine and cheese reception at the Dieters Center at 4pm.  Everyone will hop on the bus at 4:30 pm and the first stop in San Antonio is the Pearl Brewery complex.  There, the group will enjoy a chartered cocktail cruise of the Museum Reach section of the San Antonio River, then move over to Dady's restaurant, The Shuck Shack, for a Beach Party featuring a fresh seafood feast.  The menu for this casual evening includes white cheddar and jalapeno hushpuppies, gulf oysters on the half shell, fish and chips with tarragon tarter sauce, crawfish boil (with corn, potatoes and artichokes), black pepper meatballs, potato salad, pasta salad and more.  Beer, wine and cocktails are included.  Seating is limited by the size of the bus.  Several levels of sponsorship are available, ranging from $250 to $2,000.  Proceeds from the event will support the Dietert Center's nutrition services, which include Meals on Wheels and the weekday lunch program.  The Dietert Center's kitchen produced more than 88,000 meals last year, with 68,666 delivered as Meals on Wheels by nearly 200 volunteers.  Another 20,139 meals were enjoyed in the center's dining room.
