Event Description:
The Museum of Western Art will host an exhibition on Texas Rangers, courtesy of the Former Texas Rangers Foundation, with an opening reception and presentation on Saturday, August 12, from 2-4 p.m. Museum members can attend at no charge, and non-members are welcome with a suggested donation of $10.00. Please call 896.2553 to r.s.v.p. “Lone Stars: The Texas Rangers” will feature objects and information about this legendary law enforcement group that dates back to 1835. Weapons, badges, photographs and memorabilia will be featured in the exhibit, with a focus on Kerr County Rangers. Joe B. Davis, President of the Former Texas Rangers Foundation, will be the featured speaker for the August 12 event. A former Texas Ranger, Joe began his law enforcement career in 1963 as a recruit patrolman in the Department of Public Safety. In 1969, he was promoted to Texas Ranger and served over 30 years as such. He was also the first Texas Ranger to receive the Directors Citation for his investigation of Nurse Genene Jones and the death of infants in San Antonio and Kerrville. He is a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Alzafar Shrine.
