Name: Schreiner Alumni "Find Their Way Back" for Recal 16
Date: April 22, 2016 - April 24, 2016
Event Description:
Schreiner University will hold its annual Recall homecoming event Friday - Sunday, April 22-24, following the theme "Find Your Way Back".  The graduating classes of 1966 and 1991 will be highlighted on the occassion of their 50th and 25th reunions.  As in past years, the annual Randy Shepler Alumni Golf Tournament will start the weekend's festivities.  The tournament, which raises funds for the Schreiner Former Students Association Endowed Scholarship Fund, begins with a shotgun start at 1:15 p.m. Friday at the Riverhills Country Club course.  Friday evening returning alumni will have an opportunity to meet and reminisce during the Welcome Back Reception starting at 7pm in the Floyd and Kathleen Cailloux Campus Activity Center Ballroom.  Attendees will also remember the late Bill Thompson (1951) and the late Sam "Bubba" May (1952, who played key roles with Recall in years past.
Saturday morning's activities start with another Recall tradition, the Military Tribute Breakfast  at 8 am in CCAC Ballroom Two.  The breakfast honors Schreiner's early history as a military academy, and Greystone Academy, a one-year program now on campus which helps college freshmen qualify for the military academics.
Members of the Gold (1966) and Silver (1991) classes will be honored during a program that follows at 9:45 am Saturday in the CCAC River Room.
An art exhibit by 2010 graduate Ben Davis of Denton, Texas, will be featured throughout Recall in the second-floor CCAC Gallery.  Davis, who received a degree in creative arts, uses traditional photographic methods, as well as contemporary digital technology, to document historic Texas structures that have accommodated cultural rituals for more than 150 years.
A special reception for Davis will be held from 4-6 pm Saturday in the CCAC.
The Tribute to Schreiner Legends Banquet, starting at 6 pm in the CCAC Ballroom, will honor two former students and a former coach.
The Hon. Marvin Singleton, M.D. of the Class of 1960 will be named a Distinguished Alumnus for his achievements as a doctor, Missouri state senator, and community volunteer.  The late A.B. "Monk" Keith, a popular golf coach from 1966-1938, and Felicia Delgado, a record-holding softball player from 2000-2003, will be inducted into the athletic Hall of Honor.
Schreiner's Distinguished Alumnus award was created in 1977 to honor former students whose personal or professional lives achieved a conspicuous level of success.  LIkewise, the Athletic Hall of Honor was created in 2003 to celebrate former students' athletic achievements during their Schreiner years and afterward.
