Applications Now Being Accepted for Appointment to Several City Boards:
Building Board of Adjustments, Economic Improvement Corporation, and the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board
Kerrville, Texas (December 16, 2014) -
Citizen participation in local government plays an important and active role in the city of Kerrville. The city looks for participation from its diverse and experienced citizens to provide the time, energy, knowledge and talent needed to keep Kerrville the exceptional community that it is. The primary role of city boards is to review and make recommendations to the city council on matters within their scope of responsibility, and to promote increased public input and citizen participation into the determination of city policies and program implementation. Boards generally serve as citizens’ advisory arms to the city council, focusing attention on specific program areas, although certain boards may take final actions in certain areas. On specific matters referred to them by the city council, boards serve as a principal reviewing body for the city.
Throughout the year, the City of Kerrville accepts applications from persons interested in serving on city boards. Currently the City has openings for positions on the following boards:
Building Board of Adjustment and Appeals, Economic Improvement Corporation, and the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. A list of qualifications for each specific board is detailed online at www.kerrvilletx.gov under Boards and Commissions.
If you are interested in filing an application to be considered for appointment to any of these boards, applications are available at city hall, 701 Main Street, and on the city’s website under the city secretary department page. Applications are kept on file for one year, and the city council considers appointments as openings become available throughout the year. Interested persons may contact the city secretary’s office at (830) 258-1118.
