23rd Annual Polar Bear Challenge Beneficiary
Calling non-profits in the Texas Hill Country!
Each year on New Year’s Day participants in the annual Mo-Ranch Polar Bear Challenge will brave the icy waters of the Guadalupe River as they slide down the famous 32-foot-high, 115-foot-long “Mo slide”. The purpose of the event, besides starting the New Year off with a big splash, is to raise funds for a non-profit organization. The event has raised over $175,000 to date for non-profits within the Hill Country area.
Criteria the non-profit Polar Bear Challenge beneficiary must meet for consideration includes:
Previous Polar Bear Challenge beneficiaries have included Partners in Ministry, Christian Women’s Job Corps, Star Ranch, Hill Country CARES, Hill Country College Fund, Christian Assistance Ministry, Kid’s Advocacy Place, Habitat for Humanity, K-Star, BCFS Health and Human Services and Kerr County United Way.
Application information submitted by non-profit organization applicants will be reviewed by our selection committee comprised of Kerr county residents who are actively involved in non-profit endeavors. The Polar Bear Challenge recipient that is selected will be announced on June 1, 2015. All funds raised from the Polar Bear Challenge event will directly benefit the selected non-profit organization.

- Must provide for charitable and/or educational needs in the Texas Hill Country, particularly as they relate to the community of Kerr County, Texas.
- Promote and encourage volunteer participation and citizen involvement.
- Have a clearly defined mission and a history of their accomplishments.
- Have demonstrated an effective plan for fund development and an efficient use of those funds.
