Kerrville Parks and Recreation Department to host Holidays in the Park

Kerrville, Texas (November 12, 2014) –

The City of Kerrville Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce Holidays in the Park, a series of events during the holiday season to be held at Kerrville-Schreiner Park, 2385 Bandera Highway.

Beginning on Friday, November 21st, join us for Christmas Movie Night, a FREE movie in the park at 7:00 p.m. at the Kerrville-Schreiner Park Amphitheater. The movie will be the animated feature, "Polar Express" (2004, PG), about a young boy who, on Christmas Eve, boards a magical train called the Polar Express and takes an extraordinary adventure to the North Pole and Santa Claus' home. There will be complimentary hot chocolate, popcorn, and bottled water.

On Friday, December 5th, come out to A Night in Who-Ville beginning at 5:30 p.m. to be held adjacent to the Kerrville-Schreiner Park Recreation Hall. Who-ville will include face painting, a "Who" bean bag toss, and a Candy Cane Hunt for kids of all ages. The classic animated 30 minute movie of the Dr. Seuss story "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" (1966,

PG) will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the adjacent park amphitheater. So bring the family, blankets and smiles for A Night in Who-Ville! and enjoy our complimentary hot chocolate, popcorn, and bottled water.

On Saturday, December 13th, the annual Supper with Santa event for ages 3 to 10 years will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Kerrville-Schreiner Park Recreation Hall. Children must be accompanied by at least one adult, maximum two adults per child. Join us for an evening of holiday crafts, dinner, s’mores, and of course Santa! The registration fee for Supper with Santa is $10 per person and includes the commemorative photo with Santa. Hurry, as space is limited and registration is required. Registration begins on November 17th and ends on December 10th. Online registration can be made on the Parks and Recreation Department page of the City’s website at www.kerrvilletx.gov.

There will be an opportunity to donate an unwrapped toy for the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program at each of these events. The Angel Tree provides Christmas assistance to families in Kerr County with clothing and gifts for children ages 12 and under. All donations collected are distributed to children locally. Each event will have a designated donation station.
