Assistant Chief David Knight Appointed Interim Chief of Police

Kerrville, Texas (December 11, 2014)

– The City of Kerrville is pleased to announce the appointment of David Knight as Interim Chief of Police, effective January 1, 2015. Knight has been serving as the assistant chief of police for the Kerrville Police Department for the past two years. During his nearly 20 year law enforcement career with the City of Kerrville, he has served as the field operations captain, detective – criminal investigations unit, traffic sergeant, patrol sergeant, patrol corporal and patrol officer.

Assistant Chief Knight received a commission as an army infantry officer in 1981, serving 14 years in the Reserve Component and Texas Army National Guard as a rifle platoon leader, company executive officer, rifle company commander, headquarters company commander, and infantry battalion staff officer.

Knight attended the University of Texas at San Antonio and is a graduate of the U.S. Army Infantry Officers Basic and Advanced courses. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy Class 243 as well as the Institute for Law Enforcement Administration 44 Management College. Knight holds a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Master Police Officer Certification and is a member of the Texas Police Chiefs Association, the FBI National Academy Alumni Association, and the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
