Kerr County:  Court-of-Law and District 53 Candidates Forum Monday, May 12, 2014
The League of Women Voters-Kerrville Area will sponsor a Candidates Forum for candidates running for Kerr County Court-At-Law Judge and District 53 State Representative in the upcoming May 27th runoff Election.  The Candidates Forum will be held from 7:00 - 10:00 p.m. in the Ballroom of the Cailloux Campus Activity Center (Student Center) at Schreiner University, located at 2100 memorial Blvd., Kerrville, TX 78028.  There is no charge for this event and the location is handicapped accessible.  Please invite your friends to attend this Candidates Forum.
Participating candidates include:
County Court-of-Law Judge: Susan Harris and Pat McGuire
District 53, Texas State House of Representatives: Rob Henneke and Andrew Murr
The League of Women Voters is nonpartisan.  There will be no substitutes or stand-ins for the candidates.  There must be at least two candidates in attendance for each position or there will not be a forum for that position.  The questions for the Q&A will come from the citizens written on 3X5 cards.  There will be no verbal questions.  League members will screen all questions for readability and appropriateness so there are no slanted questions, slams, or questions to only one candidate.  The purpose of the questions is to educate the citizens as to the positions of the candidates.
"The League's mission includes helping citizens become informed voters," says Kerrville Area League President Priscilla Wright.  "These forums are one important way the community can become knowledgeable about the candidates and the issues."
Mission Statement:  The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy
