Kerrville ISD and Tivy High School Earn Prestigious Recognition
KERRVILLE, TEXAS (August 11, 2014) – Kerrville ISD and Tivy High School earned all Distinction Designations possible on the 2014 STAAR state accountability testing. KISD is one of only 26 school districts in Texas to earn the Distinction Designation. Fewer than ten percent of all schools in Texas received every Distinction Designation for which they were eligible.
“Earning a distinction is not easy,” said Commissioner of Education Michael Williams. “Any school earning one or more distinctions should be recognized in their community for the outstanding work taking place on that campus.”
“We are absolutely thrilled and honored to earn these Distinctions,” said Dan Troxell, Superintendent. “I congratulate our students, staff, parents and community on this outstanding achievement.”
Tivy High School earned Distinction Designations in: Academic Achievement in Reading/ELA, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies, Top 25 Percent Student Progress, Top 25 Percent Closing Performance Gaps and Postsecondary Readiness.
The indicators for Postsecondary Readiness include the percentage of students that score at the college-readiness level on STAAR in English and Math, Four-Year graduation rate, Percentage of students completing a dual credit course, SAT participation, SAT performance at or above criterion and Advanced Placement percent at or above criterion.
