Labatt Lecture to Illustrate Advantages of International Experiences
The impact an international experience can have on a person’s life will be the subject of a Weir and Nell Labatt Distinguished Lecture at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, in the Cailloux Campus Activities Center River Room on the Schreiner campus.
The speaker will be Dr. Maggie Balistreri-Clarke, who left her job in higher education when she was 28 to spend a year in Paris, France, studying, working and traveling. Following that experience abroad, she returned to a very successful career in higher education.
Dr. Balistreri-Clarke is Vice President for Student Development and Dean of Students at Edgewood College in Madison, Wis. She also has served in several leadership roles in the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA), and was recently recognized as one of NASPA’s “Pillars of the Profession.”
The lecture is free and open to the public.
The Labatt Speaker Series was established by a generous gift from the late Nell Schreiner Labatt.  The series attracts motivational speakers to campus and to link the campus community with the greater Hill Country community. Mrs. Labatt’s son, Weir Labatt II, serves on the Schreiner board of trustees.
