Great Russian Composers

The Symphony of the Hills will present an evening of music by recognized Russian composers on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at the Cailloux Theater in Kerrville.  The concert begins at 7:30 p.m., preceded by a wine reception in lobby beginning at 6:30 p.m.
"Great Russian Composers" features the following program:
Russian and Ludmilla Overture by Michael J. Glinka
From Scheherazade by Nikolay Rimsky-Korsakov
-The Sea and Sinbad's Ship
-The Story of the Prince-Kalandar
-The Young Prince and Princess
-Festival in Baghdad. The Sea.
In the Steppes of Central Asia by Alexander Borodin
Lara's Theme from Doctor Zhivago by Maurice Jarre
Themes From 007 arr. by Calvin Custer

Symphony of the Hills concerts are funded through season ticket sales, corporate and individual donations, grants and other assistance, and program advertising. Orchestra musicians come from the Hill Country area and include professionals, Schreiner University faculty, and advanced music students.  The Symphony's mission is to introduce and play an expanded suite of great music to a broad audience throughout the Texas Hill Country, and to support the development of the musical talents of young people.
