The Ducks are Here!
KERRVILLE, TEXAS (March 28, 2014) – The Kerrville Public School Foundation is gearing up for its 7th Annual KPSF Great Duck Race & Family Day. The event will be held Saturday, April 26 from 10 am – 1:30 pm at Flat Rock Park. The Principals and Coaches Kayak race will be held at 11:30 am and the Duck Race starts at 12 p.m. Proceeds from the Great Duck Race & Family Day fund Kerrville ISD teacher grants and student scholarships.
Starting today, the KPSF Duck Truck, filled with ducks from prior year races, is visiting schools and sponsor businesses around town to give everybody a chance to guess the number of ducks in the truck. The person with the closest guess wins $100 cash. Cecil Atkisson Motors granted KPSF use of the truck.
The main fundraising portion of the event is the adopting of the rubber ducks that will race in the river on April 26th. Adopting a duck for $5 gives you the chance to win one of nine prizes. See side bar for duck truck location schedule. Winners will be announced on April 26th at the Great Duck Race & Family Day at Flat Rock State Park. Winners do not have to be present to win.
“The ducks will be around town from now through April 25th and we are ready to adopt out the ducks for the Great Duck Race,” said Denise McCullough, KPSF Board President. “If you see the duck truck around town at a business, stop and cast your vote and adopt your very own duck!”
KPSF will host a SPLISH, SPLASH, DUCK BASH at the Kerr County Youth Exhibit Center on Friday, April 25th at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $65 and can be purchased through KPSF. Call (830) 257-9282.
Visit www.kpsf.net for more details. Duck adoptions are now in progress, and you can adopt a duck at duckrace.com/kerrville, by calling (830) 257-9282, or by filling out the adoption papers you will find in many local businesses.
